“Forever Forever” — Placement Day is Set

“Forever Forever” — Placement Day is Set

We have some very exciting news to share…

We officially have a placement date for James. ❤️

Over the past three months, we’ve had the incredible gift of time — time to visit, to laugh, to learn each other’s personalities, and to begin shaping what our new family will look like.

It all started with our first Sunday visit at Dave & Buster’s — lots of games, lots of competition, and even more smiles. Since then, we’ve shared some really special moments together. We had a Christmas morning celebration of our own, opening presents and creating new traditions. In January, we were snowed in during the big winter storm — which turned into cozy movie time and lots of laughs.

Little by little, this house has started to feel more and more like his home.

James loves his new bedroom. He chose a deep blue color for one of the walls and his bookcase — bold and confident, just like him. Watching him take ownership of his space has been so special.

And Maggie? She has officially declared him her best friend. While he watches movies or plays his VR, Maggie makes sure to bring as many of her toys as possible into his room and stretch out across his bed. She’s not letting him out of her sight.

We also took a trip to my parents’ farm, where James experienced some firsts — petting chickens and goats for the very first time. Now he’s convinced that when he grows up, he’s going to have goats of his own!

Next week, we get to move James into our home for placement — or as he says, “forever forever.”

A Big Transition Ahead

This next step is incredibly exciting — and we know it will come with challenges.

Changing schools in the middle of the year will be tough. He’s excited, but understandably nervous. There will be new routines, new friendships, and big emotions.

One thing he has said many times? He wants to play soccer. ⚽

Ashley and I are so excited for that season of life — early practices, muddy cleats, and cheering from the sidelines. And we can’t wait to surprise him with the news that we’ve already signed him up for spring soccer.

Thank You

We want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported us throughout this journey.

So many of you have:

  • Sponsored pieces of our adoption puzzle
  • Sent gifts from our Amazon wishlist
  • Covered us in prayer
  • Encouraged us through the waiting

James has been so thankful for all the love and support — especially knowing there are people cheering him on that he hasn’t even met yet.

For those who have asked, we still have puzzle pieces remaining if you would like to sponsor even one piece. You can find more details on our Adoption Puzzle page.

We are counting down the days until “forever forever” officially begins. ❤️
